Guyandotte Fire Station

Guyandotte Fire Station

Located at 301 5th Avenue in the historic Guyandotte neighborhood of Huntington, West Virginia, the Guyandotte Fire Station—officially known as Station 5—serves as a vital component of the Huntington Fire Department’s emergency response network. Strategically positioned in the city’s eastern sector, Station 5 ensures rapid response capabilities for both land-based emergencies and incidents along the Ohio River.

Apparatus and Capabilities

Station 5 is equipped with Engine 5, a 2016 Rosenbauer Commander pumper, designed for efficient and reliable fire suppression operations. Additionally, the station houses Marine 1, the Hartz-Booth fireboat, a 36-foot vessel dedicated to emergency responses on the Ohio River and its tributaries. The Hartz-Booth is outfitted with advanced features, including a 1,500-gallon-per-minute Hale fire pump, multiple monitor nozzles, FLIR night vision, GPS-enhanced radar, and a climate-controlled patient care area, enabling comprehensive firefighting and rescue operations on the water.

Community Engagement

Station 5 has a history of active community involvement. In September 2019, the station hosted an open house event, inviting residents to tour the newly renovated facility and meet the firefighters serving the Guyandotte area.

Commitment to Sustainability

As part of Huntington’s broader initiative to enhance energy efficiency across municipal buildings, Station 5 is included in the city’s third phase of the Energy and Operational Savings Program. This program aims to implement energy-saving measures and reduce operational costs in public facilities.
