From Phones to Power Tools: Huntington Fire Department Urges Residents to Know the Risks of Lithium-Ion Batteries this Fire Prevention Week
Safe Charging Is a Superpower!
Fire Prevention Week™ is October 4–10, 2026. “Charge Into Fire Safety™. Safe Charging Is a Superpower” focuses on the everyday charging habits that can help reduce the risk of lithium-ion battery fires and keep homes and communities safer.
Plug in. Power up. Stay safe.
“Rechargeable devices are part of our everyday lives, but simple charging habits can help prevent devastating fires,” said Huntington Fire Chief Christopher G. Blanton. “We encourage everyone to use their charging superpower by charging safely, recognizing the warning signs of a damaged battery and making fire prevention part of their daily routine.”
