Greg Fuller
Chief of the Department
As the Fire Chief of the City of Huntington, West Virginia, I bring over four decades of experience in fire and emergency services. My journey began as a volunteer firefighter in Lawrence County, Ohio, where I served as a firefighter, training officer, and deputy chief of the Rome Volunteer Fire Department. In 1989, I joined the Huntington Fire Department, ascending through the ranks to serve as Fire Chief and Director of Emergency Services from 1999 to 2009. After a tenure with the West Virginia Department of Homeland Security’s Emergency Management Division, I returned to lead the Huntington Fire Department in 2022.
I hold a master’s degree in safety management from Marshall University and undergraduate degrees in fire science technology and occupational firefighting. Additionally, I am credentialed as a master exercise practitioner and serve as an instructor for the FEMA Basic Emergency Management Academy.
Throughout my career, I’ve been committed to enhancing the well-being of our firefighters. Recognizing the unique challenges they face, I advocate for programs like Compass, which focuses on both physical and mental wellness. By addressing the holistic health of our team, we aim to ensure their readiness and resilience in serving our community.
Leadership, to me, is about fostering growth and preparedness within our ranks. I am dedicated to developing the talents of our firefighters and senior officers, ensuring that the Huntington Fire Department continues to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and service.
