Honor Guard
The City of Huntington Fire Department Honor Guard is a formal ceremonial unit composed of both active and retired members of IAFF Local 289. This distinguished group proudly represents the department at funerals, memorials, civic events, and official ceremonies, providing honors that reflect the deep traditions and values of the fire service. The Honor Guard plays a vital role in honoring fallen firefighters—whether active, retired, or lost in the line of duty—through solemn duties such as standing watch, presenting colors, and escorting caskets. Members train regularly in ceremonial protocol, flag etiquette, and drill and bearing to maintain the precision and professionalism expected of their role. Their presence at community and departmental events serves as a powerful symbol of respect, tradition, and unity, reinforcing the commitment of IAFF Local 289 and the City of Huntington Fire Department to honor those who have served and sacrificed for their city.
